SAN FRANCISCO (July 3, 2023) -- We would like to thank the AOA-American Orthopaedic Association and Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) Traveling Fellows of 2023 for visiting UCSF Department of Orthoapedic Surgery in June.
The Japanese Fellows are hosted by orthopaedic surgeons across the US. The tour ends at the AOA Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City, UT.
The AOA Traveling Fellowships recognized five young leaders for their early contributions to orthopaedics, identifying and promoting their leadership skills to the broader orthopaedic community.
This years Fellows recognized are Professor's Ichiro Tonogai, Masanori Fujii, Narihito Nagoshi, Sachiyuki Tsukada and Yasushi Oshima.
While in San Francisco their tour began with an introduction to the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, Orthopaedic Trauma Institute (OTI) led by Professor and Vice Chairman, Theodore Miclau, MD and followed with presentations by Masato Nagao, MD and Kazuhito Morioka, PhD.  Dr. Theodore Miclau just concluded a tour of Tokyo himself as a guest of the 2023 Japanese Orthopaedic Association in May.
After visiting the OTI, the traveling fellows visit next included a private tour of San Francisco, a much-anticipated San Francisco Giants baseball game, several popular restaurant outings and meetings at the UCSF Department of Orthoapaedic Surgery Parnassus and Orthopaedics Institute campuses.
We look forward to hosting Professor's Tonogai, Fujii, Nagoshi, Tsukada and Professor Oshima again in the future!
