Our team
Orthopedics is a specialty where treatment can make a significant difference in a child’s development and life as an adult. Our pediatric specialists are experts in the physical development of children and how a child’s ongoing growth requires care that differs from that of an adult. We treat the common conditions of the extremities and spine such as clubfoot, developmental dysplasia of the hip, and scoliosis. We also treat the many less common disorders such as osteogenesis imperfecta and muccopolysacharoidoses. For children with multiple and complex problems, we embrace a team approach to providing care. We work closely with the Departments of Anesthesiology, Endocrinology, General Surgery, Infectious Disease, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Pediatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine and Rheumatology to provide the most comprehensive care for our patients. Physical therapists, occupational therapists and child life specialists are also an integral part of our multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive treatment approach to our patients. Additionally, collaborations with UCSF clinicians and researchers provide us with access to the latest developments in diagnosing, treating and caring for children with orthopaedic conditions.
