SAN FRANCISCO (May 14, 2020) – To better support front-line workers and families, the UCSF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery will be offering  evening appointments via telehealth visit  for Sports Medicine (Monday to Friday) and Pediatric Orthopaedics (Monday and Friday only) starting May 18, 2020.

Appointments will be available from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We welcome any urgent care/same day appointments for both existing and new patients.

Please note, for pediatric appointments:  please remember that the pediatric patient needs to be on the telehealth visit. Pediatric Orthopaedic evening appointment will be available only on Mondays and Fridays.

“We know how hard it can be to juggle family and work responsibilities during ordinary office hours, hustling to the post office or squeezing in a doctor's visit on lunch. That's true now more than ever for essential workers and for parents trying to both work and teach from home,” said Brian Feeley, MD, an orthopaedic surgeon at UCSF and Chief of the Sports Medicine and Shoulder Service.

"Research has shown that overlap between work hours and physician availability is one of the top barriers keeping patients from getting quality care when they need it, particularly for front-line workers. Our hope is that these expanded telehealth hours will increase access to muskuloskeletal care and decrease the length of time patients have to live with pain and limited functionality."
