SAN FRANCISCO (July 18, 2026) — The UCSF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery has appointed Haley Oosterhouse, MD, as Co-Director of the UCSF Women's Sports Medicine Center, where she will serve alongside Stephanie Wong, MD, as Co-Director of one of the nation's only leading multidisciplinary sports medicine programs dedicated to the care of women and girl athletes.

The UCSF Women's Sports Medicine Center is the first and only comprehensive women's sports medicine center in the Bay Area and on the West Coast. The Center brings together specialists in orthopaedic surgery, primary care sports medicine, physical therapy, sports nutrition, sports psychology, athletic training and sports performance to provide comprehensive care for female athletes of all ages and ability levels while optimizing musculoskeletal health and athletic performance.

Dr. Oosterhouse is board certified in both family medicine and sports medicine. Her clinical interests include musculoskeletal injuries, women's sports medicine and lifestyle-based strategies to enhance recovery and performance.

She completed the UCSF Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship in 2025, where she received advanced training in nonoperative sports injury management, ultrasound-guided procedures and injury prevention. She has served as team physician for UC Berkeley and Lowell High School and sees patients at the UCSF Redwood Shores Specialty Care Clinic.

"Dr. Oosterhouse has already made a tremendous impact through her dedication to patient care, education and advancing women's sports medicine," said Dr. Wong, Co-Director of the UCSF Women's Sports Medicine Center. "I'm excited to welcome her into this leadership role and look forward to working together to further expand our program while providing exceptional care for women and girl athletes throughout the Bay Area and beyond."

The Department also extends its heartfelt appreciation to Faustine Ramirez, MD, for her leadership and dedication to the Women's Sports Medicine Center. Her contributions helped strengthen the program and expand access to specialized care for women and girl athletes throughout the region.

As Co-Director, Dr. Oosterhouse will help shape the Center's clinical, educational and research priorities while strengthening its multidisciplinary approach to caring for women and girl athletes alongside Dr. Wong.
