Now in a completely revised and updated second edition, this comprehensive and generously illustrated text covers general principles and specific strategies for managing a wide range of pediatric lower limb deformities. The book is divided thematically into five sections:

  • Part I covers general principles and techniques, including etiology, clinical evaluation, imaging, and surgical methods.
  • Part II addresses related concepts and management options such as soft tissue contractures, amputations, and practices in resource-challenged settings.
  • Part III focuses on underlying conditions including metabolic, neuromuscular, and tumor-related disorders, as well as arthrogryposis, osteogenesis imperfecta, and skeletal dysplasias.
  • Part IV presents congenital and developmental disorders such as congenital femoral deficiency, hemimelias, tibial pseudoarthrosis, and Blount disease.

He directs the Limb Lengthening and Complex Reconstruction Center at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. Dr. Sabharwal is also a professor of orthopaedics at UCSF and a leader in pediatric orthopaedic surgery, with extensive clinical and research expertise

Christopher Iobst, MD, is a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon specializing in limb lengthening and reconstruction. He is an award-winning expert and has contributed significantly to research and education in the field.
