About Zachary Thompson

Zachary Thompson is an experienced Orthotics and Prosthetics Technician at UCSF Medical Center, where he has been a key member of the team since April 2015. In his role, Zachary specializes in fabricating and customizing orthotic and prosthetic devices, working closely with patients to ensure optimal fit and function. He is responsible for thermoforming and laminating sockets based on specific case parameters and modifying designs to meet individual patient needs during the testing phase. Additionally, Zachary manages inventory and purchasing for his department, ensuring the availability of materials and tools necessary for high-quality patient care.

Zachary earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Humboldt State University in 2014. His background includes hands-on experience as a student research assistant in biomechanics and an internship where he shadowed practitioners to gain foundational knowledge in orthotics and prosthetics.
