SAN FRANCISCO (Oct. 2, 2023) --  The UCSF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is pleased to welcome Russell Dedini, MD to our faculty as an Associate Professor in the Division of Foot and Ankle Surgery.

About Russell Dedini, MD

Dr. Dedini specializes in addressing intricate orthopedic issues of the foot and ankle, dealing with trauma, deformities, and arthritis. His extensive experience also encompasses the management of complications associated with diabetes mellitus in the foot, with a primary focus on preserving limb health and enhancing patients' quality of life. Additionally, his proficiency extends to the treatment of a broad range of orthopedic conditions, including sports injuries, upper and lower extremity arthritis, and both pediatric and adult extremity trauma.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Dedini is an active researcher. His contributions to orthopedics include published works on topics such as safe surgical techniques for ankle fusions, osteochondral lesions of the talus, and cost-effectiveness analyses of knee arthroplasty procedures. His research initiatives align with his commitment to improving patient outcomes and propelling the field of orthopedics forward.

Dr. Dedini earned both his bachelor's and medical degrees from the University of California, Davis. He completed his residency within the UCSF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, further refining his skills during a Foot & Ankle Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. During his fellowship, he also served as an assistant physician to esteemed organizations such as the Philadelphia 76ers and Philadelphia Ballet. Outside of his professional pursuits, Dr. Dedini is an enthusiastic cyclist, a dedicated soccer dad, an aspiring musician, and possesses a deep passion for brewing Kombucha at home.
