Our outstanding Orthopedic Trauma Institute has expanded its services to the Regional Medical Center in San Jose, a Level-2 Trauma Center. 

About the UCSF Orthopaedic Department at RMC
Regional Medical Center of San Jose is a Level 2 Trauma Center with a catchment area of a 3-6 hours driving radius and referral from more than 87 hospitals in 2020. Since 2007, the UCSF Department of Orthopaedics and the Orthopaedic Trauma Institute at RMC has served as a major referral center for complex orthopaedics surgical problems in the South Bay. The orthopaedic surgery team, which includes attendings, fellows, and physician assistants, has outpatient clinic five days a week, performs more than 1,000 trauma surgeries per year, and covers emergency services and the operating rooms 24/7/365.

UCSF at RMC Collaboration
Regional Medical Center of San Jose and UCSF Health will continue to collaborate to provide high-level patient care in the South Bay. The long-term vision is to increase high quality, high value, inpatient and outpatient services of all surgical services at RMC. Beginning in January, 2022, the UCSF Department of Neurosurgery will join RMC to provide coverage for general and traumatic neurosurgical care and collaborate with UCSF Orthopaedic Surgery to create a combined spine service at RMC. The UCSF services bring research and educational programs to RMC, with a focus on clinical research of general trauma care and post-graduate medical education, which includes fellow training and developing additional housestaff and nursing training programs.
