Where I am in life right now: I'm a rising MS4 at UCSF, am studying for board exams, and planning to take a gap year to get a Master’s in Epi!

Research interests: My research examines how patient- and system-level factors, such as insurance status, geographic disadvantage, and language, influence health outcomes. I am also interested in population health and leveraging large data sets to analyze healthcare access and outcomes to inform policy.

Hobbies outside of work: I love playing soccer, backpacking, traveling, running to podcasts and playing with my kitties!

This paper evaluates whether health literacy, as well as other factors such as language preference, income, and education, are associated with patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) following distal radius fractures. We found that lower income and preference for languages other than English significantly predict poorer PROMs, whereas limited health literacy is not significantly associated with PROMs after controlling for other social determinants of health. These findings underscore the importance of recognizing and addressing the multiple interconnected SDOH factors associated with PROM scores.
