The UCSF Orthopaedic Trauma Institute is proud to congratulate an outstanding team of graduating students from the UC Berkeley–UCSF Master of Translational Medicine (MTM) program on the successful completion of their capstone project, Nexocura – The Next Generation of Fracture Healing.
Over the past year, this dedicated team focused on developing a commercialization strategy for a novel single-injection protein-coding nanotherapeutic designed to stimulate fracture healing without the need for additional surgery. Their work culminated in an impressive final symposium presentation, where they pitched the technology and outlined its path toward clinical and commercial impact.

Under the mentorship of Dr. Chelsea Bahney, Dr. Ralph Marcucio and Dr. Amir Matityahu, the team demonstrated exceptional dedication, professionalism, teamwork, and entrepreneurial spirit throughout the program. Their efforts were recognized through the award of both a UCSF HIVE Pilot Grant and a UCSF Catalyst Award, securing more than $100,000 in funding to support the continued development of the project.
We are incredibly proud of all they accomplished and grateful for the enthusiasm and commitment they brought to the program.
