Lauren Shapiro, MD MS (Principal Investigator)
Dr. Lauren Shapiro's research interests span multiple disciplines, with projects focused on providing high-quality, patient-centered care. She conducts research on patient preferences, shared decision-making, and empowering patients to understand their treatment options.
Dr. Shapiro grew up in Arizona and earned a bachelor's degree and medical degree from Stanford University, where she was a member of the varsity women's soccer team. She completed her residency in orthopedic surgery at Stanford, serving as chief resident during her final year. She then completed a fellowship in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery at Duke University, where she also earned a master's degree in health analytics from the Duke Fuqua School of Business. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, and watching sports.
