About Daniel Thuillier, MD

Dr. Daniel Thuillier is a Bay Area Native, born in San Francisco and raised in Oakland.  After high school in Oakland, he attended Georgetown University and received a bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor concentration in English Literature.  He then returned to the Bay Area to attend medical school at UCSF, at which he also stayed for his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery.  During this time, he took two additional years of training to complete research in cartilage pathways and biomechanics.

After residency, Dr. Thuillier pursued additional specialty training with a fellowship in advanced foot and ankle surgery at Harborview Medical Center at the University of Washington in Seattle.   He then accepted a faculty position in Orthopaedic Surgery at UCSF with a subspecialty in Foot and Ankle surgery, hoping to establish a long career of patient care, teaching and research.
Dr. Thuillier is highly involved in teaching both residents and medical students; his research interests include ankle instability, post-traumatic ankle arthritis, and ankle replacement surgery.
Dr. Thuillier’s primary focus and dedication however is always to his patients and their care.  He believes in the importance of the doctor-patient relationship and that excellent patient care means providing innovative, personalized and individualized care, be it non-operative, operative or simply informative.
