She specializes in the non-operative management of acute and chronic spine conditions, with a focus on improving patients' pain, function, and quality of life.

Dr. Tamura is fellowship-trained in Interventional Pain Medicine and offers a comprehensive, individualized approach to spine care. Her clinical expertise includes fluoroscopy-guided spine and joint injections, radiofrequency ablations, ultrasound-guided procedures, and electrodiagnostic testing (EMG/nerve conduction studies). She emphasizes evidence-based, minimally invasive treatments and works closely with patients to develop personalized treatment plans that help them return to their daily activities and improve their overall well-being.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Tamura serves as the Associate Fellowship Director of UCSF's North American Spine Society (NASS)-recognized Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine Fellowship, which she helped establish. She is actively involved in educating and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows and regularly lectures at regional, national, and international conferences on advances in spine and pain management.

Dr. Tamura's academic interests include improving outcomes following interventional spine procedures, advancing patient-centered care, and enhancing healthcare delivery through quality improvement initiatives. She has led projects to improve access to spine injections and streamline patient care and has contributed to research examining the use of mobile health technology to monitor patient outcomes following spinal interventions. In recognition of her clinical contributions, she was named a 2026 Marin Magazine Top Doctor through peer nomination.

Dr. Tamura earned her undergraduate degree in General Biology from the University of California, San Diego, and her medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at California Pacific Medical Center, followed by her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Stanford University and fellowship training in Interventional Pain Medicine at Hudson Pain and Spine in New York City.

Originally from Huntington Beach, California, Dr. Tamura was a competitive gymnast and collegiate pole vaulter. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, exploring new cuisines, and maintaining an active lifestyle.
