The UCSF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is ranked #2 in NIH funding among Orthopaedic Departments

/

The UCSF School of Medicine topped the list of National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding for medical schools for the fourth year in a row, at $501.1 million, supporting research, graduate student training and fellowships for postdoctoral scholars for fiscal year 2015

The UCSF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is ranked #2 in NIH funding amongst Orthopaedic Departments, and we are proud to announce the UCSF/ZSFG Orthopaedic Trauma Institute (OTI) makes up 30% of that funding . If the OTI were ranked as a separate Department, it would be ranked #17 in the country.

Many revolutionary ideas and tools central to the understanding and improvement of health have come from NIH-funded research. The NIH supports the most promising research programs with a goal of bringing new discoveries into medical practice. We look forward to following the findings coming through the OTI research labs!
