Heidi Truman, CPO, joins national Orthotics and Prosthetics leadership team

SAN FRANCISCO (Jan. 13, 2023) -- The UCSF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is pleased to announce that Heidi Truman, CPO, a pediatric orthotist and prosthetist, has been selected to join the board of directors on the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE); this national professional organization is responsible for accrediting orthotic, prosthetic and pedorthic education programs, including the clinical residency. Heidi’s three-year appointment with NOPE started this month.

About Heidi Truman, CPO
Heidi Truman is an ABC-certified Orthotist/Prosthetist, specializing in pediatrics. She currently provides out-patient and in-patient care at UCSF Mission Bay Hospital and Benioff Childrens Hospital-San Francisco. She serves as chair of the UCSF O&P Education Committee, and she is the UCSF O&P Residency Director. Heidi has presented nationally on residency considerations and pediatric cases. Her clinical approach includes collaboration with the patient's care team, with a focus on the family. Providing optimal care for children is a professional privilege and a personal challenge.

Heidi received her bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering form the University of Iowa, and completed her orthotic residence from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio. She also trained at Northwestern University in Chicago, where she received her certifications in both Orthotics and Prosthetics, respectively. In 2007, she completed her Prosthetic Residency at UCSF, where she has remained on the O and P clinical team.
