Orthopaedic surgeon and innovator to lead expansion of UCSF’s entrepreneurial ecosystem
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 18, 2025 — The UCSF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is pleased to announce that Dr. Aenor Sawyer has been appointed executive director of UCSF Innovation Ventures’ Innovation & Entrepreneurship (I&E) program. She will lead efforts to expand opportunities for innovators and entrepreneurs across UCSF and with external partners.
Dr. Sawyer, currently director of UCSF Innovation Ventures’ Innovator Enrichment program and a clinical faculty member in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, has spent more than a decade advancing frontline innovation in healthcare. She has co-founded multiple UCSF centers focused on digital health, 3D technologies, and space health, and has extensive experience in invention, company formation, and building external partnerships. In her new role, she will help grow UCSF’s innovation ecosystem and lead programs that turn novel ideas into real-world impact.
