Visiting Medical Students: Requirements

/

Thank you for your interest in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery’s clinical elective. When space is available, U.S. visiting students (we DO NOT accept international students) may apply to participate in the clinical electives listed below. We do not provide room, or board for visiting students. Please check our housing section for more information. Students must be in their 4th year of training and comply with all UCSF’s requirements.

Since 2009, UCSF has accepted applications submitted on-line through the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS/VSLO) for US Medical Students.

The tentative plan for re-opening UCSF's Visiting Student Program for the 2021-2022 academic year are as follows:

-Students may begin applying and scheduling for in-person away rotations with UCSF via VSLO on April 16, 2021.

-Applications will start to be processed by UCSF and the Orthopaedic Surgery Department on May 3rd, 2021.

-The block rotations are as follows: 7/26-8/22, 8/30-9/26, 9/27-10/24, 10/25-11/21 & 11/22-12-19.

If you are interested in doing an away rotation, please visit the UCSF website for more information. Please reach out for further updates by contacting Dan Peterson @ daniel.peterson2@ucsf.edu at any time. We appreciate your patience through this.
