The 2026–2027 series brings together visiting professors, Grand Rounds speakers, UCSF faculty and residents for a year of education, research and clinical discussion.
SAN FRANCISCO — Aug. 24, 2026 — The UCSF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is pleased to announce its 2026–2027 Grand Rounds series, featuring leading physicians, researchers, visiting professors, UCSF faculty and residents.
Sessions will be held Wednesdays from 7 to 8 a.m. in Byers Auditorium at Genentech Hall, UCSF Mission Bay campus, 600 16th St., San Francisco. Visiting professors and Grand Rounds speakers will participate in an additional case conference or other academic session from 8 to 9 a.m. following their presentations.
The series provides a forum for discussing advances across orthopaedic surgery, including adult reconstruction, spine surgery, musculoskeletal oncology, sports medicine, trauma, foot and ankle surgery, pediatric orthopaedics, biomechanics and rehabilitation.
Highlights of the 2026–2027 series include:
- Visiting Professors: Wakenda Tyler, MD, Division Chief of Musculoskeletal Oncology at Columbia University; Lisa Lattanza, MD, Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery at Yale; Munish Gupta, MD, MBA, Spine Surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery; Unni Narayanan, MBBS, MSc, Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Hospital for Sick Children; and James Voos, MD, Chair of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at UH Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute.
- Grand Rounds Speakers: P. Maxwell Courtney, MD, Adult Reconstruction at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute; James Kasser, MD, Diana Farmer, MD, and Daniel Lowenstein, MD, for SOS Grand Rounds; Nadeen Chahine, PhD, Professor of Biomechanics at Columbia University Department of Orthopaedics; Kate Ackerman, MD, MPH, Primary Care Sports Medicine and Women’s Sports Medicine; and DJ Kennedy, MD, Physiatry at Vanderbilt University.
- UCSF Faculty and Residents: Faculty and resident physicians will present research, clinical developments and specialty-focused discussions throughout the academic year.
