SAN FRANCISCO (August 19, 2025) — The UCSF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is pleased to announce that Dr. Stephanie Wong has been named director of the UCSF Orthopaedic Surgery Sports Medicine and Shoulder Fellowship program, effective August 1, 2025.
“This is a natural transition for Dr. Wong as she has been helping with the fellowship program since she joined our faculty,” said Dr. Alan Zhang, MD, UCSF Orthopaedic Institute Medical Director and previous Sports Medicine Fellowship Director. “Her commitment to education, research, and outreach opportunities will support future fellows in becoming well-rounded clinicians.”
A UCSF residency graduate, Dr. Wong is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training in both sports medicine and hip arthroscopy. She joined the UCSF faculty in 2020 and currently serves patients at the Orthopaedic Institute in Mission Bay and at the Berkeley Outpatient Center.
Dr. Wong succeeds Dr. Alan Zhang, who led this fellowship program for seven years.
