San Francisco, CA (Feb. 16, 2025) – On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Dr. Rafael J. Sierra, professor of orthopedic surgery and chair of the Division of Hip and Knee Surgery at the Mayo Clinic, delivered Grand Rounds at Genentech Hall on the UCSF Mission Bay campus. His presentation, titled "Hip Dysplasia: Are We Changing the Natural History with Periacetabular Osteotomy," explored advancements in hip preservation surgery and the evolving impact of periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) on patient outcomes.

“Dr. Sierra’s presentation was a tremendous opportunity for our team,” said Dr. Erik Hansen, chief of adult arthritis and joint replacement at the UCSF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. “We are incredibly grateful for his insights into hip preservation surgery and the evolving role of periacetabular osteotomy in improving patient outcomes.
