The UCSF Dept. of Orthopaedic Surgery is pleased to announce that Lisa Pascual, MD, has accepted the position as section chief of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation within the Department.
“Dr. Pascual brings a wealth of experience, leadership and knowledge to this new role,” said Dr. Thomas P. Vail, chair of the Department. “It is with great enthusiasm that she will lead our team of PM&R specialists as our Department continues to expand its services to our patients.”
In her new role, Dr. Pascual, a physiatrist, will advise on the planning and expansion of clinical operations, provide academic leadership and mentorship to faculty, residents and fellows, and manage quality and safety.
About Dr. Pascual
Dr. Pascual received her bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. She then earned her medical degree and completed her residency training at the University of California, Davis. After serving as a physician specialist at Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, she advanced to the position of Chief of Rehabilitation Services. In 2003, she then joined the faculty at UCSF in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery where she is currently a Clinical Professor. Since joining the department, she completed training as a Fellow in the California HealthCare Foundation Leadership program.
In 2003, she took on a dual appointment as the Chief of Rehabilitation Services at both Laguna Honda and at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, where she has demonstrated clinical and administrative leadership in the trauma, acute care and post-acute care settings.
Dr. Pascual remains active in teaching, serving as course director for rehabilitation-related clerkships and rotations and acting as preceptor and instructor for numerous courses. She has earned awards and recognition for her teaching endeavors. Dr. Pascual has served on numerous national committees related to her specialty. She has lectured both nationally and internationally in her research areas of interest which include traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and traumatic limb loss.
