About Amelia Chapman, DO
Dr. Amelia (Mia) Chapman joined the UCSF Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Program in July 2026 after completing a Family Medicine Residency at OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident. Mia was born in Akron, Ohio, and completed both her undergraduate and medical degrees at Ohio University, during which time she engaged in extensive research spanning neuroscience, vascular biology, simulation-based education, and healthcare systems improvement. During medical school, she also completed a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Leadership at Walsh University. During her training, Dr. Chapman received multiple honors, including Student Researcher of the Year and the American Academy of Family Physicians Resident Excellence in Graduate Medical Education Award. She has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications and national presentations, with a strong focus on medical education, lifestyle medicine, and translational research. Throughout residency, Dr. Chapman provided medical coverage for Ohio University Athletics and Hilliard Bradley High School, in addition to multiple mass participation sporting events, including the Columbus Marathon, Cap City Half Marathon, and Grandview Yard Half Marathon. She also provided medical coverage for the Arnold Sports Festival, one of the largest multi-sport and fitness expos in the world, featuring professional Strongman and Strongwoman, bodybuilding, strongest firefighter, Olympic sports, and amateur athletic competitions. In preparation for these events, Dr. Chapman developed large-scale simulation experiences to prepare multidisciplinary medical teams for event-related injuries and mass injury management. Outside of medicine, Dr. Chapman enjoys playing the drums, making clay and fiber arts, hiking, kayaking, golfing, and playing pickleball.
