Our work
- A Team of orthopedic surgeons at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center are helping to improve musculoskeletal care in Haiti. In addition to orthopedic missions, NewYork-Presbyterian, and its academic partners Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medicine, help sponsor tropical disease missions to Brazil, diabetic care missions in Ghana, and HIV/AIDS treatment missions in India. Each mission coordinates with a local hospital or medical clinic to gather patients in need of specialized care.
Our projects
Surgical Education in Haiti
- We have hosted annual lecture series in Port-au-Prince, Haiti for the surgical residents from hospitals throughout the region. Our team prepares lecture slides on various techniques in orthopedic care, which they present in a question-and-answer fashion. This facilities an open discussion for the residents, and helps them better understand methods of care in the US. The goal of this educational program is to promote sustainable practices, which can ultimately optimize healthcare in the long run.
