About Ryan Tamura
Ryan Tamura joined the UCSF PlaySafe athletic training staff in August 2026. Before joining UCSF, he worked at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, California, providing medical care for athletes in football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, water polo and other sports.
Ryan earned his bachelor’s degree in human physiology from the University of Oregon in 2021 and his master’s degree in athletic training from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. During his graduate program, he completed clinical rotations with the University of the Pacific women’s soccer team, American River College, Clayton Valley Charter High School and Diablo Valley College, where he continued working after graduation.
At UCSF, Ryan serves as an athletic trainer at Philip and Sala Burton Academic High School. Outside of work, he enjoys attending Golden State Warriors and Valkyries games, supporting the Oregon Ducks, competing in bowling tournaments and volunteering at his church.
