About Jacob Matityahu, BS

I am a Master of Translational Medicine candidate at UC Berkeley and UCSF with expertise in orthopedic research and regenerative medicine. As Preclinical Lead for the Nexocura project under Dr. Chelsea Bahney, I design and execute surgical models to evaluate RNA-based therapeutics for fracture healing while developing safety and toxicity assessment strategies in collaboration with our Regulatory Lead.
I bring extensive research experience from the UCSF Orthopedic Trauma Institute, where I contributed to publications on fracture healing mechanisms and pain behavior recovery. My technical expertise includes histomorphometry, behavioral phenotyping, and preclinical surgical modeling. I graduated from UC Irvine with a B.S. in Exercise Sciences and have international healthcare experience through Beyond Fistula in Kenya.
My career focus is advancing regenerative therapeutics from bench to bedside, with particular interest in addressing unmet needs in orthopedic trauma care. Through the MTM program, I am developing the translational research skills and regulatory knowledge necessary to bring innovative treatments directly to patients.
