About Hunter Bohlen, MD
Dr. Bohlen earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from UC Berkeley and his MD and MBA from Tulane University, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at UC Irvine and is completing a fellowship in orthopaedic trauma at Stanford University Medical Center. He comes to UCSF with an interest in the treatment of traumatic injuries involving the extremities, hip, and pelvis. His clinical expertise includes periarticular fractures and complex injuries of the elbow, shoulder, hip, pelvis, and acetabulum, with a particular interest in fracture fixation and biomechanics. He brings strong leadership experience to the role, complemented by his MBA training and a commitment to building a growing trauma service centered on excellent patient care.
Dr. Bohlen is also deeply committed to surgical education and research. His research spans orthopaedic trauma, fracture morphology, biomechanics, and clinical outcomes, and he has contributed to multicenter studies and numerous peer-reviewed publications.
