Angela Qian

I am an undergrad Mechanical Engineering student at UC Berkeley and an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Bahney Lab. I help with research that focuses on osteoporosis and improving fracture-risk prediction beyond bone mineral density. I am particularly interested in understanding how bone microarchitecture, material properties, and structural mechanics contribute to skeletal strength and fracture risk, and how these factors can be incorporated into more comprehensive models of bone health. Given my background in mechanical engineering, I am especially interested in applying engineering principles and computational approaches to clinically relevant problems in musculoskeletal health. Through this work, I hope to contribute to the development of more accurate and individualized methods for evaluating osteoporosis and predicting fracture risk.
